Membership & Sponsorship

Be a part of our story and come join us as we grow!
Everyone can make history happen!

Since its founding in 1970, the Macoupin County Historical Society has passionately preserved and celebrated the rich heritage of Carlinville and the surrounding region. At its heart is the beautifully restored John C. Anderson Mansion—also known as the Anderson Mansion Museum—built in 1883 and expanded in 1892. This architectural gem blends Italianate, Queen Anne, and Stick–Style design, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 5, 1992.

But history lives beyond the mansion. On the museum grounds, you’ll discover a delightfully authentic village: a one‑room schoolhouse, working blacksmith shop, rural church, country store, print shop, sawmill, herb garden, and barns filled with farm machinery—all lovingly restored thanks to local volunteers and generous donors.

Additional Sponsorship Benefits

Philanthropy has the power to influence lasting social change. When an organization receives support, a ‘ripple effect’ takes place. Many lives are touched, potentially for generations.

Philanthropy can be looked at as one of the cornerstones of a stable society. When people come together to help others, whether donating money or time, we’re reminded what it means to be human. And from there, communities grow stronger.

Family philanthropy is the act of giving as a family, very much in the long term. It helps establish a culture of giving for generations and passes on positive attitudes towards money and helping others. It’s a powerful form of philanthropy, as it allows for families to keep giving as the philanthropic landscape changes. It also helps families to build and achieve lasting impact.

Consult with your estate planner, attorney or financial planner to include the Macoupin County Historical Society in your bequest.
